Sumayya, a remarkable figure in early Islamic history, holds the distinction of being the first female martyr in the Ummah of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Her unwavering faith and courage in the face of persecution set a powerful example for future generations.

Born into a time of great turmoil, Sumayya's commitment to her beliefs ultimately led to her tragic fate. She was killed for her faith, a sacrifice that underscored the challenges faced by the early Muslims. Shortly after her martyrdom, her husband, Yasir ibn Amir, also lost his life due to his conversion, marking him as the first male martyr in Islam.

Sumayya is often referred to by her full names, Sumayya bint Khabbat or Sumayya bint Khayyat. She was not only a devoted follower of Muhammad but also the mother of Ammar ibn Yasir, who would go on to play a significant role in the early Islamic community.
