Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Sun Yang

Sun Yang, born on December first, nineteen ninety-one, is a renowned Chinese swimmer who has made a significant mark in the world of competitive swimming. He is celebrated as a three-time Olympic gold medalist and an eleven-time world champion, making him the most decorated swimmer in Chinese history. In two thousand twelve, he achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Chinese athlete to win an Olympic gold medal in men's swimming.

Throughout his illustrious career, Sun has set numerous records, becoming the first male swimmer to secure Olympic and World Championship gold medals across every freestyle distance from two hundred to fifteen hundred meters. His exceptional talent and achievements have led NBC Sports to describe him in two thousand seventeen as “very arguably the greatest freestyle swimmer of all time.”

However, Sun's career has not been without controversy. In September two thousand eighteen, he was involved in a contentious incident during an out-of-competition doping test at his residence. The doping control assistant lacked proper accreditation and took unauthorized photos of Sun, prompting him to refuse the blood sample collection. This incident escalated when a security guard intervened to prevent the testers from taking the vials. Although FINA ruled that Sun did not violate anti-doping rules due to the assistant's actions, the Court of Arbitration for Sport later overturned this decision.

On February twenty-eighth, two thousand twenty, CAS imposed an eight-year ban on Sun for tampering with the doping control process. Despite this, they noted that he would not be stripped of any medals, as subsequent doping tests returned negative results. Following a retrial on June twenty-second, two thousand twenty-one, the ban was reduced to four years and three months due to concerns regarding impartiality in the initial trial.
