Saravanan Sivakumar, known to the world as Suriya, was born on July 23, 1975. He is a prominent Indian actor and film producer, primarily recognized for his contributions to Tamil cinema. Suriya has established himself as one of the highest-paid actors in the industry and is celebrated as one of the finest talents in Indian cinema. His impressive career is marked by numerous accolades, including two National Film Awards, seven Filmfare Awards South, and ten Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. Additionally, he has made six appearances in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list.

Making his acting debut in the film Nerukku Ner in 1997 at the age of twenty-two, Suriya quickly gained recognition with his breakthrough role in Nandhaa in 2001. His first major commercial success came with the thriller Kaakha Kaakha in 2003. Suriya's versatility as an actor shone through in award-winning performances, such as a conman in Pithamagan and a hunchback in Perazhagan, both released in 2003 and 2004, respectively. His portrayal of a man suffering from anterograde amnesia in the blockbuster Ghajini in 2005 further solidified his stardom.

In 2008, Suriya captivated audiences with his dual roles in Gautham Vasudev Menon's semi-autobiographical film Vaaranam Aayiram. He established his status as an action star with notable performances as a smuggler in Ayan in 2009 and as an aggressive cop in the Singam trilogy.
