Susan Polgar

Susan Polgar, born on April nineteenth, nineteen sixty-nine, is a distinguished Hungarian-American chess grandmaster whose impact on the game transcends her competitive achievements. She held the title of Women's World Chess Champion from nineteen ninety-six to nineteen ninety-nine, marking a significant era in women's chess history.

At the remarkable age of fifteen, Polgar became the top-ranked female chess player in the world, as recorded in FIDE's Elo rating system in July nineteen eighty-four. Her prowess was further recognized in nineteen ninety-one when she became the third woman ever to be awarded the prestigious title of Grandmaster by FIDE.

Throughout her illustrious career, Polgar has earned eleven medals at the Women's Chess Olympiad, showcasing her exceptional talent with four gold, four silver, and three bronze medals. Beyond her competitive success, she is also a dedicated trainer, writer, and promoter of chess.

As the head of the Susan Polgar Institute for Chess Excellence (SPICE) at Webster University, she actively sponsors various chess tournaments for young players, nurturing the next generation of chess talent.
