Susi Kentikian

Susi Kentikian, born on September eleventh, nineteen eighty-seven, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, is a remarkable figure in the world of boxing. At the tender age of five, she and her family fled their homeland due to the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, eventually settling in Hamburg in nineteen ninety-six. It was here that Kentikian discovered her passion for boxing, stepping into the ring for the first time at the age of twelve.

Throughout her illustrious career, which spanned from two thousand five to two thousand sixteen, Kentikian established herself as a formidable competitor in the flyweight division. She became a two-time world champion, holding the unified World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) female titles from two thousand seven to two thousand twelve, and later reclaiming the WBA title from two thousand thirteen to two thousand seventeen. Additionally, she secured the Women's International Boxing Federation (WIBF) title twice during her career.

In a historic moment for women's boxing, Kentikian was honored as the first-ever female Super champion during the two thousand nine WBA convention in Colombia. This accolade came with the distinction of having the Super champion belt named after her, known as the 'Susi Kentikian belt,' which will be awarded to future champions.

Undefeated until two thousand twelve, Kentikian achieved an impressive record, with sixteen of her first thirty victories coming by way of knockout or stoppage. Her bouts gained significant attention, with the German television station ZDF broadcasting her fights since July two thousand nine, following her earlier appearances on ProSieben from two thousand seven to two thousand nine. Kentikian's success in the ring has earned her a place in the hearts of fans, and she aspires to reach the same level of fame as the legendary German boxer Regina Halmich.

In recognition of her contributions to the sport, Susi Kentikian was inducted into the International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame in two thousand twenty-two, solidifying her legacy as one of the greats in women's boxing.
