Susan L. Wiles, born on May 14, 1957, is a prominent American political consultant and lobbyist, currently serving as the 32nd White House chief of staff since January 2025. A graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, Wiles began her political career while still in school, working for New York representative Jack Kemp. Her early involvement in politics included significant roles in Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign and serving in the White House Office of Scheduling and Advance.
Wiles has a rich history of political engagement, having served as the district director for Tillie Fowler's campaign in 1992 and as chief of staff for Jacksonville mayor John Delaney from nineteen ninety-seven to two thousand. She continued her public service in John Peyton's administration, further solidifying her reputation in Florida politics.
In the 2010 Florida gubernatorial election, Wiles was the campaign manager for Rick Scott, leading to his victory. She briefly managed Jon Huntsman Jr.'s presidential campaign before taking on a pivotal role in Donald Trump's 2016 campaign as Florida's campaign chairwoman and later as campaign manager. Following Trump's election, she transitioned to lead Ballard Partners and played a crucial role in Ron DeSantis's gubernatorial campaign in 2018.
Wiles's influence extended into Trump's post-presidency, where she was appointed to lead his fundraising efforts, including Save America. As Trump announced his presidential campaign in November 2022, Wiles was named campaign manager alongside Chris LaCivita. Following Trump's victory in the 2024 election, she made history as the first woman to hold the position of White House chief of staff.
