Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono

Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, born on September ninth, nineteen forty-nine, is a distinguished Indonesian politician and retired military officer. He made history as the sixth president of Indonesia, serving from two thousand four to two thousand fourteen, and is recognized as the second president from a military background following Suharto. Yudhoyono is also the founder of the Democratic Party of Indonesia, where he held the position of fourth chairman from two thousand fourteen until two thousand twenty.

His political journey includes significant roles such as the eighth and tenth Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, serving from two thousand to two thousand one and again from two thousand one to two thousand four. Yudhoyono's leadership was marked by his election victory in two thousand four, which was the first direct presidential election in Indonesia, where he triumphed over incumbent President Megawati Sukarnoputri. He was inaugurated on October twentieth, two thousand four, alongside Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

Re-elected in two thousand nine with Boediono as his running mate, Yudhoyono secured an outright majority in the first round of voting and began his second term on October twentieth, two thousand nine. His presidency was characterized by Indonesia's active participation in global peace missions and successful negotiations that brought an end to the Aceh insurgency, which had persisted from nineteen seventy-six to two thousand five. This achievement earned him the title of 'Father of Peace.'

In addition to his presidential duties, Yudhoyono chaired the eighteenth and nineteenth ASEAN Summits in two thousand eleven and was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award (Champions of the Earth) in two thousand fourteen, reflecting his commitment to sustainable development and global cooperation.
