Suzanne Evans

Suzanne Evans, born in February nineteen sixty-five, is a prominent English journalist and politician known for her dynamic involvement in the UK political landscape. Initially elected as a Conservative councillor for the London Borough of Merton Council on 6 May 2010, she made a significant shift in her political journey when she resigned the Conservative whip on 15 May 2013.

Following her resignation, Evans joined the UK Independence Party (UKIP) as a councillor from 29 May 2013 until 22 May 2014. Her leadership skills were recognized when she served as Deputy Chair of UKIP from two thousand fourteen to two thousand sixteen and again from two thousand sixteen to two thousand seventeen, working alongside notable figures such as Neil Hamilton and The Earl of Dartmouth.

Evans faced challenges during her tenure, including a suspension from the party between March and September two thousand sixteen, which prevented her from participating in the leadership election that September. However, she was reinstated as Deputy Chairman by Paul Nuttall and later emerged as one of the three candidates in the party's leadership election in November two thousand sixteen. Her contributions to UKIP included serving as a spokeswoman and co-authoring the party's election manifestos in two thousand fifteen and two thousand seventeen.

In December two thousand eighteen, Evans made the decision to resign from UKIP, citing concerns over the appointment of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon as an advisor to party leader Gerard Batten. Additionally, she represented UKIP as a candidate in the Shrewsbury and Atcham constituency during the two thousand fifteen general election, further solidifying her role in the political arena.
