Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown, widely recognized as Swae Lee, was born on June 7, 1993, in Inglewood, California. He is an influential American rapper and singer-songwriter, celebrated for his distinctive reverb-heavy vocals and his ability to blend various musical genres. Swae Lee gained prominence as one half of the hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd, which he co-founded in 2010 with his older brother, Slim Jxmmi.

In 2013, Rae Sremmurd signed with Mike Will Made It's EarDrummer Records, a subsidiary of Interscope Records. The duo quickly made waves in the music industry with their first three studio albums—SremmLife, SremmLife 2, and SR3MM—each of which debuted within the top ten of the Billboard 200. Their hit singles, including "No Flex Zone," "No Type," and the chart-topping "Black Beatles" featuring Gucci Mane, solidified their status in the hip-hop scene.

As a solo artist, Swae Lee achieved significant success with his guest appearance on French Montana's 2017 single "Unforgettable," which reached the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 and earned diamond certification from the RIAA. His songwriting prowess was further recognized with a Grammy Award nomination for co-writing Beyoncé's iconic single "Formation." In 2018, he released his debut solo studio album, Swaecation, as part of Rae Sremmurd's triple album, SR3MM.

That same year, Swae Lee collaborated with Post Malone on the single "Sunflower" for the film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which not only topped the Billboard Hot 100 but also became the highest-certified song in RIAA history, achieving double diamond status. His other notable releases include the single "Close to Me" with Ellie Goulding and Diplo, and an uncredited appearance on Travis Scott's "Sicko Mode," both of which contributed to his growing legacy.

Looking ahead, Swae Lee is set to release his second solo album, Same Difference, on April 4, 2026, promising to continue his innovative contributions to the music industry.
