Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Swaminarayan

Swaminarayan, born on April third, seventeen eighty-one, is revered as a significant religious leader and yogi, known for his profound spiritual teachings. His followers regard him as a manifestation of Krishna, embodying the highest form of Purushottama. The Swaminarayan Sampradaya, a spiritual tradition that emerged around him, reflects his teachings and influence.

In eighteen hundred, Swaminarayan was initiated into the Uddhava sampradaya by his guru, Swami Ramanand, who bestowed upon him the name Sahajanand Swami. Following Ramanand's passing in eighteen hundred two, he assumed leadership of the Uddhava Sampradaya, which subsequently transformed into the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. This transition was marked by a significant gathering where he imparted the Swaminarayan Mantra to his devoted followers.

Throughout his life, Swaminarayan championed moral, personal, and social betterment, emphasizing the principle of ahimsa. His legacy includes notable reforms aimed at uplifting women and the impoverished, alongside the performance of large-scale non-violent yajñas, or fire sacrifices, which were integral to his teachings.

Swaminarayan's charisma and beliefs were institutionalized through the establishment of six mandirs, facilitating devotional worship among his followers. He also contributed to the scriptural tradition by authoring the Shikshapatri in eighteen hundred twenty-six. That same year, he formalized the creation of two dioceses, the Laxmi Narayan Dev Gadi and Nar Narayan Dev Gadi, establishing a hereditary leadership of acharyas and their spouses, beginning with his adopted nephews, who were empowered to install deity statues in temples and initiate ascetics.
