Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Sylvain Arend

Sylvain Arend, born on August sixth, nineteen hundred and two in Robelmont, Luxembourg province, Belgium, was a distinguished Belgian astronomer renowned for his contributions to the field of astrometry.

Arend's most notable achievements include the discovery of the bright comet C/1956 R1, known as Arend-Roland, in collaboration with fellow astronomer Georges Roland. His expertise also led to the discovery and co-discovery of several periodic comets, such as 49P/Arend-Rigaux and 50P/Arend, as well as Nova Scuti in nineteen fifty-two.

In addition to his work on comets, Arend made significant contributions to asteroid discovery, including the Amor asteroid 1916 Boreas and the Trojan asteroid 1583 Antilochus. Notably, he discovered the asteroid 1652 Hergé, named in honor of the beloved creator of The Adventures of Tintin, and the asteroid 1563 Noël, which pays tribute to his son, Emanuel Arend.

In nineteen forty-eight, Arend co-founded the skeptic organization Comité Para, alongside sixteen other individuals, further showcasing his commitment to scientific inquiry. In recognition of his contributions to astronomy, the outer main-belt asteroid 1502 Arenda was named in his honor.
