Sylvain Roy, born on August third, nineteen sixty-four, is a prominent Canadian politician hailing from Quebec. He currently represents the Bonaventure electoral district as an independent member of the National Assembly of Quebec. His political journey began with a significant victory in the two thousand twelve Quebec general election, where he successfully unseated the Liberal incumbent, Damien Arsenault.
Prior to his election, Roy faced a challenging defeat in a by-election held on December fifth, two thousand eleven, where he lost to Arsenault. This initial setback did not deter his ambitions, and he continued to advocate for his constituents, ultimately leading to his election in two thousand twelve.
On June fourth, two thousand twenty-one, Roy made headlines when he announced via Twitter his decision to leave the Parti Québécois caucus. This move to sit as an independent MNA stemmed from growing disagreements over the application of Bill 101 in CEGEP, among other issues that had eroded his trust in the caucus.
