Sylvester James Gates

Sylvester James Gates Jr., widely recognized as S. James Gates Jr. or Jim Gates, is a prominent American theoretical physicist born on December 15, 1950. Currently, Gates holds the esteemed position of Toll Professor of Physics at the University of Maryland, where he also serves as the Clark Leadership Chair in Science within the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences.
