Sylvie Lespérance, born on December twenty-first, nineteen fifty-four, in Jonquière, was a notable figure in Quebec's political landscape. She served as a member of the National Assembly for the Action démocratique du Québec, representing the Joliette electoral district from two thousand two until two thousand three.
Before her election, Lespérance was a dedicated supporter of the Liberal Party. Her political journey included two challenging campaigns against the Parti Québécois cabinet member Guy Chevrette in the elections of nineteen eighty-nine and nineteen ninety-eight, where she was unable to secure a victory.
Lespérance's political career took a turn when she won a by-election on June seventeenth, two thousand two, capturing thirty-eight percent of the vote. This victory was significant, as she outperformed the Parti Québécois's star candidate, Michel Bellehumeur, who garnered thirty-two percent.
In the subsequent election of two thousand three, however, Lespérance faced a setback, finishing third with twenty-one percent of the vote. Tragically, her life was cut short when she passed away on September twenty-second, two thousand six, in Saint-Alphonse-Rodriguez, at the age of fifty-one.
