Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Ta Mok

Ta Mok, born Chhit Choeun in 1925, was a prominent military leader in Cambodia, known for his significant role in the Khmer Rouge regime. He was a key figure in the genocidal actions that marked this dark chapter in Cambodian history, earning him the notorious moniker 'Brother Number Five' and the grim title of 'the Butcher'.

As the leader of the national army of Democratic Kampuchea, Ta Mok wielded considerable power and influence during the Khmer Rouge's reign. His military strategies and leadership were pivotal in the regime's operations, which led to widespread atrocities and suffering across the nation.

In March 1999, Ta Mok was captured by Cambodian government forces near the Cambodia–Thailand border while attempting to evade arrest with a small group of followers. Following his capture, he was held in custody as he awaited trial for war crimes, a process that would ultimately remain unresolved until his death in July 2006.
