Taeyeon

Kim Tae-yeon, known mononymously as Taeyeon, was born on March 9, 1989, in South Korea. She rose to fame as a member of the iconic girl group Girls' Generation, which debuted in August 2007. The group quickly became one of the best-selling artists in South Korea and gained international recognition as a leading force in the K-pop genre. Taeyeon's contributions extend beyond the group, as she has participated in various SM Entertainment projects, including Girls' Generation-TTS, SM the Ballad, Girls' Generation-Oh!GG, and the supergroup Got the Beat.

In 2015, Taeyeon launched her solo career with the release of her debut extended play, I, which featured a titular single that topped South Korea's Gaon Digital Chart. The following year, she released the hit single 'Rain' as part of the SM Station project, along with her second EP, Why, which also achieved significant success on the Gaon Album Chart. Her debut studio album, My Voice, released in 2017, produced several top-five singles, including '11:11', 'Fine', and 'Make Me Love You'.

Taeyeon ventured into the Japanese music market in 2018 with the digital single 'Stay', followed by the 2019 EP Voice. Her second studio album, Purpose, released in 2019, featured the chart-topping single 'Four Seasons' and the popular track 'Spark'. In 2022, she released her third studio album, INVU, which included the number-one titular single and other successful tracks like 'Weekend' and 'Can't Control Myself'.

In addition to her music career, Taeyeon has made notable appearances on television, including reality shows such as We Got Married and Begin Again, and she hosted Queendom 2 in 2022. Currently, she is a cast member of Amazing Saturday. Taeyeon has also lent her voice to various soundtracks for television dramas and films, with notable songs like 'If' for Hong Gil-dong and 'All About You' for Hotel del Luna.

With over one million physical albums and twenty million digital singles sold as of 2021, Taeyeon stands as one of the best-selling solo artists in South Korea. Her impressive accolades include seven Golden Disc Awards, six Seoul Music Awards, five Circle Chart Music Awards, four Melon Music Awards, and four Mnet Asian Music Awards.
