Tahir ibn Husayn

Ṭāhir ibn Ḥusayn, known for his remarkable military prowess, was a prominent general and governor during the Abbasid Caliphate. Born in the year seven hundred seventy-six, he earned the monikers Dhul-Yamīnayn, meaning 'the ambidextrous,' and al-Aʿwar, translating to 'the one-eyed.' His unique skills and leadership qualities set him apart in a tumultuous era.

During the Fourth Fitna, he served under Caliph al-Ma'mun, playing a crucial role in the conflict against al-Amin. His strategic acumen and decisive actions led to the defeat of al-Amin, ultimately paving the way for al-Ma'mun to ascend to the caliphate. This victory not only solidified his reputation but also marked a significant turning point in the power dynamics of the Abbasid dynasty.

In recognition of his contributions, Ṭāhir ibn Ḥusayn was appointed as the governor of Khorasan.
