Taishi Ci, born in the year one hundred sixty-six, emerged as a prominent military leader during the tumultuous late Eastern Han dynasty of China. Originating from Donglai Commandery, he began his career as a minor official, quickly gaining recognition for his bravery and strategic acumen. At the young age of twenty, he made headlines by successfully intercepting a critical letter intended for the imperial court, a feat that forced him into hiding in Liaodong due to fears of retribution from the provincial administration.
After his time in hiding, Taishi Ci ventured to Beihai, where he played a pivotal role in rescuing the warlord Kong Rong from the clutches of the Yellow Turban rebels. Utilizing clever tactics, he broke the siege and sought reinforcements from Liu Bei, ultimately lifting the siege and solidifying his reputation as a capable military strategist.
His journey continued as he allied with Liu Yao, engaging in fierce battles against Sun Ce. Despite his valiant efforts, Taishi Ci faced defeat and was captured by Sun Ce's forces. However, he was moved by Sun Ce's genuine kindness and chose to serve him, subsequently persuading many of Liu Yao's former followers to join Sun Ce's ranks. Appointed as a Commandant, he was tasked with ensuring the security of Jianchang County, where he successfully repelled frequent raids from Liu Pan and his men.
Following Sun Ce's untimely death, Taishi Ci remained loyal to Sun Ce's successor, Sun Quan. His contributions to the military were significant, and his passing in the year two hundred six was deeply mourned by Sun Quan, who recognized the loss of a remarkable leader. Taishi Ci's legacy endures, characterized by his impressive height, estimated between one hundred seventy-eight and one hundred eighty-two centimeters, and his renowned archery skills.
