Taqulittuq, born in 1838, was a remarkable Inuk interpreter and guide whose contributions to Arctic exploration are noteworthy. Alongside her husband, Ipirvik, also known as Joe, she played a pivotal role in the expeditions led by the renowned Arctic explorer Charles Francis Hall.
In the 1860s, Taqulittuq and Ipirvik joined Hall in his quest to uncover the fate of Franklin's lost expedition. Their expertise and knowledge of the Arctic landscape were invaluable assets during this challenging journey.
Additionally, Taqulittuq participated in the Polaris expedition, which aimed to reach the North Pole. Her skills as an interpreter not only facilitated communication but also bridged cultural gaps, enhancing the overall success of these ambitious explorations.
