Tara Lipinski, born on June 10, 1982, is a celebrated American sports commentator and former competitive figure skater. She made history as the youngest Olympic champion in women's singles figure skating, achieving this remarkable feat at the 1998 Winter Olympics. Lipinski's illustrious career also includes being the 1997 U.S. national champion and world champion, as well as a two-time Champions Series Final champion during the 1997-1998 season.
Known for her exceptional talent, Lipinski was the first woman to successfully execute a triple loop-triple loop combination in competition, a signature move that set her apart from her peers. Her achievements in the sport have left an indelible mark, and until 2019, she held the record for being the youngest winner of the U.S. Nationals.
After retiring from competitive figure skating in 1998, Lipinski continued to showcase her skills in live performances until her final retirement from the ice in 2002. In 2014, she transitioned into sports commentary, becoming one of NBC's primary figure skating commentators, where she collaborates with fellow commentator Terry Gannon and her good friend, Johnny Weir.
