Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Tato

Tato, an early sixth-century monarch of the Lombards, was born into the Lething Dynasty as the son of Claffo. His reign marked a significant period in Lombard history, characterized by both conflict and territorial expansion.

During his rule, the Lombards were vassals to the Heruli, paying tribute to them. However, in the year five hundred and eight, Tato engaged in a fierce battle against King Rodulf of the Heruli, resulting in Rodulf's death. This victory not only dealt a severe blow to the Heruli but also significantly enhanced the Lombards' power and influence in the region.

The conflict that led to this war was rooted in personal tragedy, as chronicled by Paul the Deacon. It was reported that Tato's daughter, Rumetrada, was responsible for the murder of Rodulf's brother, igniting the hostilities between the two factions.

Tragically, Tato's reign came to an abrupt end in the year five hundred and ten when he was murdered by his own nephew, Wacho. This act of betrayal marked a tumultuous chapter in the history of the Lombards, leading to further instability within the dynasty.
