Taufik Hidayat

Taufik Hidayat, born on August 10, 1981, is a distinguished Indonesian retired badminton player who has made significant contributions to the sport. He is celebrated not only for his remarkable achievements on the court but also for his current role as the Deputy Minister for Youth and Sport of Indonesia.

Throughout his illustrious career, Taufik has garnered numerous accolades, including being a former World Champion and an Olympic gold medalist. His prowess in badminton is further highlighted by his two Asian Games gold medals and three Asian Championship titles. Taufik's exceptional skills have also earned him the title of a six-time Indonesia Open winner.

Known affectionately as 'Mr Backhand', Taufik Hidayat is recognized as one of the greats in men's singles badminton. He made history by becoming the youngest player to achieve the world number one ranking in men's singles, a testament to his talent and dedication to the sport.
