Ted Bundy

Ted Bundy, born on November twenty-fourth, nineteen forty-six, was an American serial killer whose heinous acts shocked the nation. Between nineteen seventy-four and nineteen seventy-eight, he kidnapped, raped, and murdered dozens of young women and girls across several states, including Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho. His chilling modus operandi involved luring victims by feigning a need for assistance or impersonating an authority figure, only to bludgeon them unconscious and transport them to remote locations for sexual assault and murder.

Bundy's criminal activities began with his first definitively-known victim in February nineteen seventy-four. He was notorious for revisiting the bodies of his victims, engaging in acts of grooming and sexual interaction with the corpses until they were rendered unrecognizable by decomposition or wildlife. In addition to his murders, Bundy was also a skilled burglar, breaking into homes at night to bludgeon, maim, and assault his victims while they slept.

In nineteen seventy-five, Bundy was arrested in Utah for aggravated kidnapping and attempted criminal assault, which led to his identification as a suspect in a growing list of unsolved homicides. After escaping custody twice, he continued his violent spree in Florida, where he committed three additional murders before being recaptured in nineteen seventy-eight. Ultimately, he faced multiple murder charges and received three death sentences for his crimes in Florida, culminating in his execution in the electric chair at Florida State Prison on January twenty-fourth, nineteen eighty-nine.

Biographer Ann Rule described Bundy as a sadistic sociopath who derived pleasure from the pain and control he exerted over his victims, even after their deaths. He once infamously claimed to be 'the most cold-hearted son of a bitch you'll ever meet,' a sentiment echoed by his attorney Polly Nelson, who characterized him as the very definition of heartless evil.
