Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Ted Leather

Ted Leather, born on May twenty-second, nineteen nineteen, was a prominent Canadian-born British Conservative politician. His political career began in earnest when he was elected to the UK Parliament in nineteen fifty as the representative for North Somerset. During his tenure, which lasted until nineteen sixty-four, he served as a backbencher during the Conservative governments from nineteen fifty-one to nineteen sixty-four.

Before entering politics, Leather had a distinguished military career. He served as an officer in World War II, initially with the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion and later with the Toronto Scottish and the Royal Canadian Artillery. After the war, he transitioned to civilian life as an insurance broker in England.

In recognition of his contributions, Leather became a UK citizen and was knighted in nineteen sixty-two. However, due to health issues, he retired from his role as an MP in nineteen sixty-four. His political journey took a significant turn when he was appointed Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Bermuda in nineteen seventy-three, following the tragic murder of Sir Richard Sharples. He held this esteemed position until nineteen seventy-seven, after which he chose to remain on the island.
