Tego Calderón

Tego Calderón, born on February first, nineteen seventy-two, is a prominent Puerto Rican rapper, singer, actor, and songwriter. He embarked on his musical journey in nineteen ninety-six under the name Tego Tec, gaining recognition through the support of renowned Puerto Rican rapper Eddie Dee. Calderón's breakthrough came with the release of his first album, El Abayarde, in two thousand three, which achieved international acclaim, selling three hundred thousand copies globally and earning a nomination for a Latin Grammy Award.

His influence in the reggaeton genre was further solidified by his participation in Eddie Dee's album, 12 Discípulos, in two thousand four. Over the years, Calderón has released several studio albums, including The Underdog/El Subestimado in two thousand six and El Abayarde Contraataca in two thousand seven, which showcased his evolving style, leaning more towards hip hop and African music. His fourth studio album, El Que Sabe, Sabe, released in two thousand fifteen, won a Latin Grammy Award for Best Urban Music Album.

Calderón's lyrical content often reflects social and political themes, addressing issues such as corruption within the Puerto Rican government. His songs also explore themes of dance, love, self-reflection, and personal experiences, resonating with a diverse audience.
