Teimour Radjabov

Teimour Radjabov, born on March twelfth, nineteen eighty-seven, is an esteemed Azerbaijani chess grandmaster who first captured the world's attention as a child prodigy. Achieving the title of Grandmaster in March two thousand one at the remarkable age of fourteen, he became the second-youngest grandmaster in history at that time.

In two thousand three, Radjabov made headlines by defeating the then-world number one, Garry Kasparov, during the prestigious Linares tournament. This victory was followed by impressive wins against former world champions Viswanathan Anand and Ruslan Ponomariov, solidifying his status as a rising star in the chess community.

Over the years, Radjabov's dedication and skill propelled him to elite status, culminating in a peak rating of two thousand seven hundred ninety-three in November two thousand twelve, which ranked him fourth in the world and marked him as the nineteenth-highest rated player in chess history.

His competitive spirit has seen him participate in the Candidates Tournament three times, in two thousand eleven, two thousand thirteen, and two thousand twenty-two, where he secured third place. Although he qualified for the two thousand twenty edition, he had to withdraw due to the coronavirus pandemic. Radjabov has also led the Azerbaijani team to victory in the European Team Chess Championship in two thousand nine, two thousand thirteen, and two thousand seventeen.

Among his notable individual achievements are joint first place in the two thousand seven Corus tournament, victories in the two thousand eight Elista Grand Prix, the two thousand seventeen Geneva Grand Prix, the two thousand nineteen FIDE World Cup, and the two thousand twenty-one Airthings Masters.
