Telesphore Toppo

Telesphore Toppo, born on October fifteenth, nineteen thirty-nine, is a distinguished Indian prelate of the Catholic Church. He has made significant contributions to the Church and society, particularly as a member of the aboriginal tribal community. His journey in the Church began as the bishop of Dumka from nineteen seventy-eight to nineteen eighty-four, where he laid the groundwork for his future leadership.

In nineteen eighty-five, Toppo became the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Ranchi, a position he held until two thousand eighteen. His tenure was marked by a commitment to social justice and the upliftment of marginalized communities. In recognition of his service, he was appointed a cardinal in two thousand three, making history as the first cardinal from India's tribal population.
