Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, is a celebrated Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer born on June 11, 1995. She gained international recognition with her feature on Wizkid's hit single 'Essence' in 2020, which soared to number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, especially after the remix featuring Justin Bieber. This breakthrough not only showcased her vocal prowess but also earned her a Grammy Award nomination.

In the same year, Tems released her debut extended play, 'For Broken Ears', and collaborated with Canadian rapper Drake on the track 'Fountains'. Her career continued to flourish as she signed with RCA Records to launch her second EP, 'If Orange Was a Place', in 2021. The following year, her vocals from 'Higher' were sampled by Future in the chart-topping single 'Wait for U', making her the first African artist to achieve such a feat on the Billboard Hot 100.
