Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Teres I

Teres I stands as a pivotal figure in the history of Thrace, renowned for his role as the first king of a large, unified Odrysian kingdom. His leadership marked a significant turning point as he successfully united over forty Thracian tribes under a single banner, showcasing his exceptional military prowess.

Throughout his reign, Teres I dedicated much of his life to the battlefield, where he earned a reputation for his strategic acumen and bravery. His military campaigns were instrumental in consolidating power and expanding the influence of the Odrysian kingdom.

Tragically, Teres I's life came to an end during a military campaign in four hundred forty-five BC, with historians suggesting that he faced the Triballi, a neighboring Thracian tribe that occupied extensive territories to the north of Thrace. His legacy continued through his second son, Sitalces, who succeeded him as king.
