Teresa Carreño

Teresa Carreño, born on December 22, 1853, was a remarkable Venezuelan musician whose talents spanned the realms of composition, conducting, and performance. Renowned as a virtuoso pianist, she captivated audiences worldwide throughout her impressive fifty-four-year concert career. Her extraordinary skill on the piano earned her the affectionate title of the 'Valkyrie of the Piano.'

In addition to her prowess as a performer, Carreño was a dedicated composer, creating approximately seventy-five works that included pieces for solo piano, voice and piano, choir and orchestra, and instrumental ensembles.
