Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri, born on March 15, 1942, is best known to the world as the Iron Sheik. This Iranian-American professional wrestler and actor made a significant mark in the wrestling industry, particularly during the explosive era of the 1980s. He is celebrated as the only Iranian-born champion in WWE history, having captured the WWF World Heavyweight Championship in nineteen eighty-three.

The Iron Sheik's career reached its zenith amidst the WWF wrestling boom, where his fierce rivalry with Hulk Hogan played a pivotal role in transforming Hogan into a television icon of the decade. In addition to his singles success, Vaziri teamed up with Nikolai Volkoff, and together they clinched the WWF Tag Team Championship at the inaugural WrestleMania event, further solidifying his legacy in the sport.

Throughout the eighties, the Iron Sheik was known as a heel, captivating audiences with his larger-than-life persona.
