Thein Sein

Thein Sein, born on April twentieth, nineteen forty-five, is a prominent Burmese politician and retired army general. He held the esteemed position of the eighth president of Myanmar from two thousand eleven to two thousand sixteen, following his tenure as the eleventh prime minister from two thousand seven to two thousand ten. His leadership is often characterized as reformist, particularly during the transitional phase of Myanmar's post-junta government.

Under Thein Sein's administration, significant political reforms were initiated, marking a departure from the previous regime's stringent controls. His government made strides in deregulating the country's previously censored media, releasing numerous political prisoners, and halting a controversial large hydro-power project led by China. These actions were pivotal in reshaping Myanmar's political landscape.
