Theodelinda, also known as Theudelinde, was a prominent figure in the history of the Lombards, reigning from around five hundred seventy to six hundred twenty-eight AD. As a queen, she was married to two successive Lombard kings, Authari and Agilulf, which positioned her at the heart of Lombard politics and culture.
Her influence extended far beyond her marriages; Theodelinda served as regent of the Kingdom of the Lombards during the minority of her son, Adaloald. This role allowed her to shape the kingdom's direction during a critical period, demonstrating her political acumen and leadership skills.
After Adaloald came of age, Theodelinda continued to play a significant role as co-regent from six hundred sixteen to six hundred twenty-six. For over thirty years, she wielded considerable influence throughout the Lombard realm, which spanned much of Italy between the Apennines and the Alps, making her a key figure in the region's history.
