Théodore Chassériau

Théodore Chassériau, born on September twentieth, eighteen nineteen, was a Dominican-born French painter renowned for his captivating portraits and historical works. His artistic journey began under the influence of the Neoclassical style, closely aligned with that of his mentor, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. However, as his career progressed, Chassériau's style evolved, embracing the Romantic influences of Eugène Delacroix, which marked a significant turning point in his artistic expression.
