Theudigisel

Theudigisel, known in Latin as Theudigisclus and in various Iberian languages as Teudiselo, Teudigiselo, or Teudisclo, was a prominent figure in the history of the Visigoths. Born around the year five hundred, he ascended to the throne as king of the Visigoths in Hispania and Septimania during the years five hundred forty-eight to five hundred forty-nine.

His reign, though brief, is marked by the complexities of Visigothic politics, where some historical records omit his name entirely. This omission, alongside that of Agila I, suggests a turbulent period in the succession of Visigothic kings, with the lineage often jumping from Theudis directly to Athanagild.

Despite the gaps in historical accounts, Theudigisel's rule is a testament to the shifting dynamics of power within the Visigothic kingdom. His legacy, though not extensively documented, remains a part of the intricate tapestry of early medieval Iberian history.
