Thomas Anders

Thomas Anders, born Bernd Weidung on March 1, 1963, is a celebrated German singer, songwriter, and record producer, renowned for his role as the lead vocalist of the iconic pop duo Modern Talking. His musical journey began in his school years, where he initially struggled to establish himself as a Schlager artist. However, in 1983, he teamed up with Dieter Bohlen to form Modern Talking, which quickly skyrocketed to fame with their hit single 'You're My Heart, You're My Soul'.

The duo's success was meteoric, producing a string of chart-topping hits such as 'You Can Win If You Want', 'Cheri, Cheri Lady', and 'Brother Louie'. Despite their dissolution in 1987, they reunited in 1998, delivering new hits like 'You Are Not Alone' and 'Sexy, Sexy Lover' before parting ways again in 2003. Throughout their career, Modern Talking sold an astonishing one hundred twenty million records worldwide, earning numerous accolades and certifications.

After the first breakup, Anders ventured into a solo career, releasing six studio albums during the 1990s, though they did not achieve significant chart success. His Spanish-language album 'Barcos de Cristal' found success in Argentina, with its title track reaching number one. Following the second breakup of Modern Talking, Anders experienced a resurgence in his solo career, with his album 'This Time' reaching number fourteen in Germany and producing number one hits in Russia and Turkey.

Despite not replicating the same level of success as Modern Talking, Anders has become a musical icon in Eastern Europe, where he enjoys a devoted fan base and frequently performs in stadiums. His contributions to music were recognized in 2006 when he was appointed an honorary professor by the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv for his influence on a generation's musical taste. Notably, he holds the title of the best-selling foreign artist of all time in Russia.
