Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Thomas David McConkey

Thomas David McConkey, born on July twenty-ninth, eighteen fifteen, in County Tyrone, Ireland, was a prominent figure in Ontario's political and business landscape. He immigrated to Innisfil Township in Upper Canada with his family in eighteen twenty-eight, where he would later establish himself as a successful merchant in Barrie.

McConkey's political career began in earnest when he served as reeve of Barrie and warden for Simcoe County from eighteen sixty to eighteen sixty-one. His early attempts at political office included an unsuccessful bid for the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada in eighteen sixty-one. However, his perseverance paid off when he was elected to the assembly for the North riding of Simcoe in eighteen sixty-three, serving until Confederation.

In eighteen sixty-seven, McConkey was re-elected to the House of Commons of Canada as a Liberal member, representing Simcoe North until eighteen seventy-two. His commitment to public service continued as he took on the role of sheriff for Simcoe County in Barrie, a position he held from eighteen seventy-five until his passing.
