Thomas Eagleton

Thomas Eagleton, born on September fourth, nineteen twenty-nine, was a prominent American lawyer and politician who made significant contributions to the state of Missouri. He served as a United States senator from nineteen sixty-eight until nineteen eighty-seven, during which he was known for his dedication to public service and advocacy for various social issues.

In nineteen seventy-two, Eagleton was selected as the Democratic vice presidential nominee under George McGovern. However, his candidacy was marred by personal challenges, as he struggled with bouts of depression throughout his life. These struggles led to several hospitalizations, which were kept confidential until they were publicly disclosed, resulting in a significant setback for the McGovern campaign.
