Thomas Hardwicke

Thomas Hardwicke, born in 1755, was a distinguished English soldier and naturalist whose remarkable journey in India spanned from 1777 to 1823. During his time in this vibrant land, he dedicated himself to the meticulous collection of numerous specimens of natural history, showcasing the rich biodiversity of the region.

Hardwicke's passion for the natural world extended beyond mere collection; he collaborated with talented Indian artists to have his specimens beautifully painted.
