Tiberius II Constantine, born in the year five hundred twenty, emerged as a significant figure in the Eastern Roman Empire, serving as a governor and politician. His ascent to power began in the year five hundred seventy-four, during a tumultuous period marked by the mental decline of Emperor Justin II. In a moment of clarity, Justin II proclaimed Tiberius as caesar and adopted him as his son, setting the stage for Tiberius' rise.

By the year five hundred seventy-eight, as Justin II lay on his deathbed, he conferred upon Tiberius the title of augustus, effectively making him co-emperor. However, Tiberius' reign as co-emperor was short-lived, as he became the sole ruler less than two weeks later. He chose the regnal name of 'Constantine,' under which he would govern until his passing.
