Tilemachos Karakalos, born in 1866, was a distinguished Greek fencer and military personnel who made his mark in the world of sports during the late nineteenth century.
He showcased his exceptional skills at the inaugural modern Olympic Games held in Athens in 1896. Competing in the men's sabre event, Karakalos participated in a five-man, round-robin tournament that tested the mettle of each fencer.
In this competitive setting, he achieved an impressive record, winning three out of four matches. His victories included notable wins against Georgios Iatridis, Adolf Schmal, and Holger Nielsen. However, he faced a setback against his fellow countryman, Ioannis Georgiadis, which ultimately placed him in second position.
