Tim Bethune

Tim Bethune, born on January 22, 1962, is a retired Canadian sprinter known for his remarkable contributions to athletics. He made a significant mark at the 1982 Commonwealth Games, where he showcased his talent by finishing seventh in the 400 meters and fourth as a vital member of Canada's 4 × 400 meters relay team.

His athletic prowess continued to shine on the international stage, as he represented Canada at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Competing in the 4 × 400 meters relay, Bethune and his teammates secured an eighth-place finish, further solidifying his status as a dedicated athlete.

However, Bethune's career was not without controversy. In 1989, during the Dubin Inquiry, he openly admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs. Despite this admission, he was never found to have competed under the influence of such substances, and he was ultimately exonerated from any allegations regarding drug use during his competitive years.
