Timothy Sullivan

Timothy Sullivan, born on July twenty-third, eighteen sixty-two, was a formidable figure in New York politics, particularly known for his influence over Manhattan's Bowery and Lower East Side districts. As a prominent leader within Tammany Hall, he earned the monikers 'Dry Dollar', 'Big Feller', and later 'Big Tim', reflecting both his physical presence and his significant impact on the city's political landscape.

In addition to his political endeavors, Sullivan was a successful businessman, amassing a considerable fortune through his ventures in vaudeville and legitimate theaters, nickelodeons, race tracks, and athletic clubs. His business acumen complemented his political ambitions, allowing him to wield substantial power in the city.
