Tofiq Bahramov

Tofiq Bahramov, born on January twenty-nine, nineteen twenty-five, was a distinguished figure in the world of football, hailing from Azerbaijan. He made his mark not only as a talented player but also as a respected referee and assistant referee, contributing significantly to the sport.

Bahramov is perhaps best known for his pivotal role in the 1966 FIFA World Cup Final, where he served as the linesman during the match between England and West Germany. His controversial decision to award England's third goal led to him being mistakenly labeled as 'the Russian linesman' in England, despite his Azerbaijani heritage.

Following his passing in nineteen ninety-three, Tofiq Bahramov was honored posthumously when Azerbaijan's national stadium was renamed the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium, a testament to his lasting legacy in football.
