Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Toivo Loukola

Toivo Loukola, born on October second, nineteen hundred and two, was a distinguished Finnish long-distance runner and athletics competitor. He made his mark in the world of athletics by winning the 3000 metres steeplechase at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, where he also showcased his versatility by finishing seventh in the 10,000 m race.

Just a month prior to the Olympics, Loukola set an unofficial world record in the steeplechase, a feat that set the stage for his Olympic triumph. In Amsterdam, he easily advanced through the heats of the 3000 m steeplechase, positioning himself as a strong contender for the final.

The final race saw Loukola competing against notable Finnish athletes Paavo Nurmi and Ville Ritola. Despite the challenges posed by injuries and the demanding 5000 m race the day before, Loukola seized the opportunity. After 2000 m, he launched an impressive attack, creating a thirty-meter lead that he maintained until the finish line, ultimately winning with a new world record time of nine minutes, twenty-one point eight seconds.

In addition to his Olympic success, Loukola was a dominant force in national competitions, securing eleven national titles across various distances, including the 5,000 m, 10,000 m, and steeplechase events from nineteen twenty-eight to nineteen thirty-six. Beyond his athletic achievements, he served as a policeman, embodying a spirit of dedication both on and off the track.
