Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Tom Corbett

Thomas Wingett Corbett Jr., born on June 17, 1949, in Philadelphia, is a distinguished American lawyer and politician. He graduated from Lebanon Valley College and St. Mary's University School of Law, later serving as a captain in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Corbett began his legal career in 1976 as an assistant district attorney in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, before joining the U.S. Department of Justice as an assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania from 1980 to 1983.

Corbett's political journey commenced in 1988 when he was elected as a Township Commissioner in Shaler, a suburb of Pittsburgh. He served as the United States Attorney for Western Pennsylvania from 1989 to 1993 during the George H. W. Bush administration. In 1995, he was appointed Attorney General of Pennsylvania, a position he held until 1997. After a brief return to private practice, he was elected Attorney General again in two thousand four, serving two non-consecutive terms until two thousand eleven.

In 2010, Corbett made history by becoming the second Pennsylvania attorney general to be elected governor, defeating Democratic nominee Dan Onorato. His tenure as the 46th governor of Pennsylvania lasted from 2011 to 2015, and he remains the most recent Republican to hold that office as of 2026. However, his bid for reelection in 2014 ended in defeat against Democrat Tom Wolf, marking a significant moment in Pennsylvania's political history.

After leaving office, Corbett returned to private life and registered as a lobbyist in 2021. His career reflects a commitment to public service and a significant impact on Pennsylvania's legal and political landscape.
