Tom Tancredo

Tom Tancredo, born on December twentieth, nineteen forty-five, is a prominent American politician hailing from Colorado. He served as a member of the United States House of Representatives, representing the state's sixth congressional district from nineteen ninety-nine to two thousand nine as a Republican. His political career began in the Colorado House of Representatives, where he was elected in nineteen seventy-six and served two terms.

After his tenure in the Colorado legislature, Tancredo worked in the United States Department of Education during the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. He later transitioned to Congress, where he was elected for five terms. In two thousand eight, he made a bid for the presidency, focusing his campaign on critical issues such as illegal immigration and terrorism. However, he withdrew from the race in December two thousand seven to support Mitt Romney's campaign for the Republican nomination.

In July two thousand ten, Tancredo announced his intention to switch parties and run for Governor of Colorado under the American Constitution Party banner. He garnered six hundred seventeen thousand thirty votes, which accounted for thirty-six point seven percent of the total, finishing in second place ahead of the Republican nominee, Dan Maes.

Tancredo's political journey continued as he ran for governor again in two thousand fourteen as a Republican, driven by his opposition to Governor John Hickenlooper's policies, including his stance on the death penalty and gun control. Despite a competitive primary against several candidates, Tancredo lost to Bob Beauprez. In two thousand fifteen, he left the Republican Party to become an independent, but he returned to run as a Republican for governor in two thousand eighteen, ultimately withdrawing from the race.
