Anthony Dominick Benedetto, known to the world as Tony Bennett, was born on August 3, 1926, and became a celebrated figure in American music and art. With a career spanning over seven decades, Bennett was not only a jazz and traditional pop singer but also a painter, autobiographer, and actor. His remarkable talent earned him numerous accolades, including twenty Grammy Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award, and two Primetime Emmy Awards. Bennett's journey began in his youth, and he served as a U.S. Army infantryman during the final stages of World War II. Despite the challenges posed by his illness, he continued to perform and record until his retirement from concerts, which was announced following his final performances at Radio City Music Hall on August 3 and 5, 2021.
