Shalhoub's breakout role came as Antonio Scarpacci on the beloved NBC sitcom Wings, which aired from 1991 to 1997. He later achieved widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Adrian Monk in the USA Network series Monk from 2002 to 2009, earning three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.
