Toralf Engan

Toralf Engan, born on October first, nineteen thirty-six, is a celebrated retired Norwegian ski jumper whose remarkable career left an indelible mark on the sport. Engan's prowess was showcased at the 1964 Winter Olympics, where he triumphed in the large hill event and secured a commendable second place in the newly introduced normal hill event.

His illustrious career was further highlighted by his victory in the prestigious Four Hills Tournament, which he won in the season preceding the Olympics. Additionally, Engan made history at the 1962 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships by clinching the gold in the individual normal hill event, marking a significant milestone as the first-ever champion in that category.

In the same year, he also excelled at the Holmenkollen ski festival, winning the ski jumping normal hill event and earning the esteemed Holmenkollen medal. Engan's dedication to the sport led him to retire after the nineteen sixty-six season, leaving behind a legacy of excellence.

Following his retirement, Engan transitioned into coaching, serving as a national ski jumping coach from nineteen sixty-seven to nineteen sixty-nine. He eventually settled in Trondheim with his family, continuing to inspire future generations of ski jumpers.
